Kissing a kid’s ‘owies’ may be good for health |

New York, Thursday, May 20, 2010 : New research that was published online in Molecular Psychiatry, says that parent’s love and affection is good for their children’s health. The report says moms and dads who love their children help reduce the stress that the child is facing and they are also instrumental in calming down the hormones that have been identified with inflammation.
During the research, the researchers said that they took blood samples from 53 people. The chose people who have grown up in low socioeconomic status homes. When interviewed, almost half of the respondents said that they grew up having close and loving relationship with their mothers, while the other group said that they had an artificial and distant relationship with their mothers.
The results of the blood test showed that the group that had close and loving relationship with their moms had fewer genetic markers of inflammation. These inflammation markers over time play havoc on the body. However the other group that had cold, distant relationship with their mothers, had more genetic markers of inflammation and this increases their risk of inflammation.
Researchers say the data from the research indicates that poor circumstances can be overridden by love and care, while the child is growing up.
