Spas Selling Fat-melting Injections Under FDA Scanner |
|
New Delhi, Friday, April 9, 2010: It is quite commonplace to see the slimming clinics and companies making ridiculous claims of making obese people slim fast by means of special injections and pills. This has caught on well with a section of the obese population who want to shed the excess fat without working out and changing their food habits. However, the medical experts have often warned about their side effects on the human body. Recently FDA came down heavily on the spas in the USA that offer such services and also scolded a Brazilian spa for making silly claims regarding fat melting injections. The FDA spokesperson said in a new conference that such companies often make claims about how safe their slimming products are. However, in most cases these turn out to be a distortion of the fact. However, people who have used such products have come up with complaints of side effects on the body and health. The lipodissolve shots can result in the creation of permanent blemishes on the skin of a person and can also damage the skin. The warning of FDA is likely to have an effect on other clinics and spas making similar claims. The FDA has also made it clear that unless the companies stop advertising these products it will stall the production and force them legally to withdraw the drugs from the market. The popularity of the products sold by these spas is mainly owing to the nature of the obese people who do not want to change their lifestyle. FDA also has plans to issue new directives for clinics that advertise slimming products. Ref: Thaindian
